Jacksonville might not be the first place you think of when planning a trip to Florida. However, we've identified several reasons why Jacksonville is a perfect destination for RV travelers coming to Florida.
Beaches, beaches, beaches
Jacksonville is home to some of the finest white sand beaches in the state. With over 22 miles of stunning shores that blend natural beauty with an urban atmosphere, there's much to discover. Visit the Jacksonville Beach pier to watch surfing or relax in the sun, then enjoy a drink or meal at nearby restaurants. Looking for a more natural environment? Hanna Park is only a short drive away. This preserved area of quintissential southern hammock coastline offers miles of scenic trails, opportunities for paddling on the lake, or sunbathing on the beach.
Attend an NFL Jacksonville Jaguars Game!
Jacksonville hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars, an NFL team. The stadium, situated in downtown Jacksonville, is just a short drive from Sunny Oaks RV Park. This area is rapidly gaining popularity for its restaurants and hotels. Recently, the team has begun constructing a new, state-of-the-art stadium that will compete with any major NFL venue.
Unbeatable Location for Northern Snowbirds
Florida is a large state, and traveling from north to south can take a full day or longer. Jacksonville is situated in the northeastern corner of Florida, reducing the travel distance for those arriving from the north. Interstate 95 runs directly through the city, providing convenient access for travelers.
Booming Economy
Jacksonville ranks among the fastest-growing cities in Florida, and there's a good reason for this. As a key shipping port on the eastern seaboard, numerous industries select Jacksonville as their business hub. Consequently, the city boasts a wide variety of restaurants, shopping options, activities, and employment opportunities. Jacksonville is especially advantageous for professionals in the medical field and those involved in construction projects.
Mild Climate
In contrast to Central Florida or regions further south, Jacksonville experiences a relatively mild climate. Winters are cool and dry, and although summer temperatures can be quite high, a coastal breeze is often present. Another major advantage of RVing in Jacksonville is that most major hurricanes and tropical storms tend to bypass this part of Florida. Evacuations are infrequent, and hurricane damage, particularly inland, is considerably less than in other coastal areas of Florida, such as those near the Gulf.
High Quality of Life
Jacksonville provides a variety of activities such as beaches, boating, fishing, golf, museums, parks, and lively neighborhoods, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Some of our favorite spots to explore include the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, the Jacksonville Zoo, Little Talbot Park, Riverside Arts Market, Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens, St. Johns Town Center Mall, and the previously mentioned Kathryn Hanna Park. In addition, Jacksonville has one of the largest urban park systems in the nation. According to Visit Jacksonville, there are more than 80,000 acres of parks that include 2 National park sites, 7 state parks and more than 400 city parks.
